Liriodendron tulipifera
Sapwood is pale yellow and may be streaked. The heartwood is usually tan but can vary from pale yellowish brown to olive green. Can also be seen in mineral stained colors ranging from dark purple to red, green, or yellow.
Straight-grained, with a medium and uniform texture
Versatile wood that is easy to machine, plane, turn, glue and bore. It dries easily with minimal movement and has little tendency to split when nailed. It takes and holds paint, enamel and stain exceptionally well.
Medium density wood with low bending, shock resistance, stiffness and compression values, with a medium steam-bending classification.
